Head Shot of Annie Anderson

Annie Anderson, Ph.D.

Curator

Annie Anderson is a public historian and curator with 15 years of experience creating inclusive projects that link the past to the present and people to place. Annie earned her Ph.D. in American Studies from Rutgers University-Newark. Annie is a historian of the Progressive era (1890-1920), and her research explores the intersections of women's activism, race, gender, and policing. Annie has worked for the Humanities Action Lab, the Rikers Public Memory Project, and Eastern State Penitentiary Historic Site, researching and writing exhibits and other interpretive materials. Annie loves unearthing and sharing long-forgotten stories of women, LGBTQ+ people, and others overlooked in traditional history narratives. In her free time, Annie likes to visit museums and historic sites, and hike, bike, and explore the many natural and cultural wonders near her home in Western Massachusetts.
